Jimmy Wales against SOPA

Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia is acting against the SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act). He has committed to bring down the English Section of the wikipedia for one day on 18th January 2012.

SOPA, which was introduced by Lamar Smith and 12 other co-sponsors is a bill raised in United States House of Representatives to stop online piracy and trafficking intellectual property. This will ruin the dream of  Tim Berners Lee of the Internet. The Internet, what we know today is in the infancy stage and has long way to go.

Internet was made open for all. The content should be free, the entire knowledge of the human race should be at one place. This was the ethics behind the Internet, Wikipedia and the open source community.

If bills like, SOPA comes into existence then it will change the face of the Internet. It'll push us decade back. The countries like China has already shown such attempts in blocking sites for it's citizen.

Hyderabad Kite Festival in Pongal - Shopping

I never knew that people celebrate Pongal in Hyderabad by flying kites. People of all age, cast and creed enjoy this moment. I was gone for shopping with my cousin and friends to old city today for buying Kites (Patang, पतंग  in Hindi)  and Coated Thread for kites ( Manja in Hindi).

The price was unexpected though, ordinary kites are sold in dozen which may cost you 24 Rs (INR) to 70 Rs per dozen and special kites are sold in single which starts from 15 Rs. to 400 Rs ( more than 400 Rs for few other varieties).

Manja/ Maanja ( मंजा, مانجا ) is nothing but a coated thread for flying fighter kites, they are prepared using Sagu Dana, सागू दाना ( Tapioca), Glass Powder, Color and Natural / Artificial Adhesives. The ingredients are cooked well on stove and then applied on thread. This makes thread sharp, so that your kites stays for more time in the sky by defeating other kites. More the sharp is your Manja, more the power your kite has got. If you are defeated, your kite will no longer be yours.

The time eater

More I try to manage my schedule, more I waste my time in unnecessary things. Well, I experience it many times - usually when I sit before my computer and in the mid of work I see some attractive advertisement and start digging around ten levels down to the link.

And, when I realize that the work is still pending - I start hurrying at eleventh hour.

To avoid this, I started writing a checklist on a piece of paper to avoid distractions. The simple checklist can keep you in track and save a lot of time. 

I do enjoy, stumbling the internet. But, only when there is no work to do.
